So Much Noise. lyrics by Michael Wheatley. Every day it grows and the chaos it gets louder Opinions they stack up prouder in the outer. You can be anyone you want and no-one at the same time. Build walls around the open sky that you fly in So much noise That it’s hard to hear So much noise And it sounds like fear So much noise Time to update your brain So much noise How can you lose when there’s nothing there to gain Another life in the palm of your hand. Ever increasing it’s niggling demand. You can hide it away But it seeps out of the cracks It sizzles and it tempts, Now in bite size snacks. Do you love me? I can’t hear with all the noise And Is it real? When there is so much choice I’m shaking dear Yet present with so much poise No signal is clear When there is so much noise.

All Of the Above. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley Remember the naughties Just before my forties When every weekend night would become a day A cosy home right on the strip You used to catch me when I’d slip. Spilling drinks you made me But I just keep on dancing Chorus: A reason A season A lifetime All of the above Dance floor after shot After dance floor after shot Take the lot and find some more Lifting shifting and moving lives Late night dives All the girls in the world and you picked me? Chorus That one time down In Chinatown We got lost and then we found Each other Running for a hugging Again and again Until we found some where to drinking We didn’t have to think It was still the same Chorus
3.
Funk You Very Much. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley All the years in the making Cause I thought you were worthwhile. Said my heart's always for the taking, Even when it's on the bottom of the pile. Ah tears now the ground is shaking. It's silent wit, it’s wrapped in style. Can you see the sweat that is breaking When I pick up the phone to dial? Chorus: Funk you very much I put a whole lotta love in there Ah funk you very much You'll never see how much I care I think to fight a good fight But I wonder about the way I see myself in your light So what I say, is what I say, is what I say I think to light the night But I can’t forget that day Cramped up on what's right Till there's only one more thing that’s left to say... Chorus Today might just be the day That I let myself off the hook. Cause you're just like the Internet, baby When I really need’s a good old book. Now here I stand, see me now! Honey take a real good long look. ‘Cause I don't want any more of your takeaway, baby I already know how to cook. Chorus

From Now On 01:54
From Now On. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley Maybe I give a little too much Now I won't be doing such From now on I won't give it all away
5.
Connection 05:02
Connection. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley It's here, it's clearly back It's yet another attack I can't stay, stay on track Would you hit me please. Whack! Slack tack mackin like a cheap hack. I want connection Deeper, deeper. Oh it's debilitatiing Excruciating power so intimidating Exploration is so captivating Heart palpitating, we're conversating, textually masturbating But I want connection Deeper, deeper. Who got the full stop Who got the penny to drop Bottle pop What a big flop Booty no bop Hip no hop I want that connection Deeper, deeper.
6.
Fell to Pieces. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley I thought I had A clear view from here All around the stars lined up And I had no fear I thought I had The strength of many Lifting a heavy heart And giving plenty I fell to pieces When I saw you dance I thought I had All I need to get it on But damn you dj Now why you go and play that song I thought I had Two legs to stand on Now my feet don't touch the ground So right, so wrong. I fell to pieces When I saw you dance
7.
Deeper In Love. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley The trouble with love is the inclination to thinking you’re sinking at such a rapid rate of knots An oversight to say the least when less is more and the words are just stinking Up the whole situation Congratulations you’re the winner now Congratulations just get in line now And the prize is there just waiting for you Just keep on waiting for me Waiting for you in the end Chorus: I want to see double Then Triple the serving Well deserving Let Mother earth in Deep in Love More Feelings Free dealings Open and Creative No time left To be wasted Deeper in love Now have you got the accordance . required to attend . such a regal state . of liquidated loose affairs Captured by those emotions Held in place until the end. Captured by them emotions Hide my face until the end Chorus It’s sanctified and held in high esteem Something to live up to until it tears at the seams And thread trails and drags behind . You’ve found you lost your mind . But you always knew that was coming. Like a train oncoming with you right there and you’re tied to the tracks And you’re Praying to a god cause you can’t seem to count on the facts And you rely on your timeline to redefine that shaky sliver Of self identity Chorus
8.
Put It Down 04:46
Put It Down. Lyrics by Michael Wheatley Oh So many Extended friends The trail it never ends A monstrosity of social Connectivity Lacking in all sensitivity An inward journey out of ourselves How often do you say “I didn’t recognise you in real life” Two existences Which one will thrive? Which one will survive? And then there’s the voices The ones they let you hear The ones who pay to be there Just inside your ear And when they go You'll take their place And listen to them say “you take up too much space” But just when it gets too much to bear And you see yourself splitting hairs That aren’t even there You can switch it off and Put the fucker down Switch it of And put the fucker down.

about

Static Alley is my first album in 3 years since Deep Clean and also an album that has been worked at slowly, bit by bit over the last 10 years.
It's a collection of late night jams, poems written on torn note pad pages, experimental sound recordings, mixes turned and tossed rapidly during breaks from intensive touring and grooves that have, through the webbing of lyrics, melded into a concept.
These songs all have a story and have morphed and grown, almost like a large adopted family, into an album. They have all come from different places and moments in time yet somehow all gel so well. They talk of connection, of communication, digital blended with analog, clarity within distortion, self and community, information highway versus Static Alley.

I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land this music was made on, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
I pay respect to elders past, present and emerging.
This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

about

Michael Wheatley Sydney, Australia

From underground funk rock in Kings Cross in the nineties to touring nationally with his own fringe shows it has been, for Michael, a very long way to the shop to get his sausage roll. Along that road though he has moved many a soul with his passion, unique sound and prolific songwriting. He's the kind of artist who you're lucky to know about and will always remember once you do. ... more
